What You Will Master:

  • Emergency Response & CPR: Learn to confidently assess casualties, ensure situational safety, activate emergency services, deliver high-quality CPR, and operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

  • Acute Medical Management: Master the precise administration of asthma medication and autoinjectors for anaphylaxis, and learn critical interventions for choking.

  • Trauma & Injury Care: Learn immobilisation techniques for fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and envenomation (bites and stings), alongside the management of shock and non-life-threatening bleeding.

  • Anatomy & Physiology: Understand key biological differences between adults, children, and infants, and how they impact life-saving care.

Units Being Delivered

The following units will be included in your certificate:

  • HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

  • HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

  • HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid 

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry

  • Supply photo ID

  • Have the physical capability to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the Floor

  • Wear appropriate attire and enclosed footwear

Online pre-course work: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online pre-course work. Please note: All online pre-course work is to be completed prior to attending the face-to-face assessment.

Assessment Activities

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)

  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario

  • Perform CPR on an infant

  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis

  • Manage a casualty with asthma

  • Manage a choking casualty

  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning

  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed

  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation

  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain

  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)

  • Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Course Duration

The course duration is between 1-2hours

  • If a student requires further training, repeat assessment or any extra help, the Trainer may request the student stay behind to ensure that they have the best chance at completing the course but may also be rescheduled for another date.

    • Yes, this course is a nationally recognised course.​

  • How long is my first aid certificate valid for?

    • It is recommended that first aid is completed every three years while CPR is recommended to be annually.​

  • Are there any prerequisites before attending?

    • Yes, this course is an online with face-to-face assessment model. There is approximately 4 hours of online course work to complete before you attend your course.​

  • What should I wear?

    • Classroom appropriate attire that is comfortable as you will need to get on the floor for this course.​

  • What should I do if I cannot attend my course?

    • Contact us as soon as possible to reschedule. Please note that less than 24hrs notice may incur a reschedule fee.​
